research
research was a key component at the start of this project. Surveys were gathered, a plant was purchased and cared for, and an Instagram was created to get in touch with plant bloggers for further informatin and feedback. Research was focused on gathering information on who owns house plants, how they care for them, and what benefits they bring to owners.

first iteration
starting with designs for incorperating plants into home decor. Assembling a mood board, sketching, planning, and making models were the steps taken to develop the first round of design for a mirror, shelf, and table that incorporate plants into the home.

second iteration
Building on the previos models to refine designs to fit more seamlessly into the home. Done through sketching, models, drawings, and edits to make further improvements.

third iteration
A shift in focus to sensory experience and making the home a sanctuary that connects one with nature. Water feature is a new addition that immerses in auditory experience. Maintaining and building upon the geometric design language.
fourth iteration
Design language shifting to repetition and order of rectangles. Inspiration is further drawn from zen gardens and Tadao Ando's architecture. New addition of an infinity mrror builds upon sensory experience, as it incorperates expanding visual effect. dome added to water feature to further enforce auditory experience. Sconce designed to radiate a warm, soothing glow.
final concept
After meeting with professors inspired to shift focus on the pillar of the biophilia ideology that there is diversity in nature and monotony in the manmade. This concept was combined with thoughts as to how traditional bowls have been used in homes for centuries. A sconce, infinity mirror and water feature are still the focus, but are drastically redisigned taking the research and inspiration into account while prioritizing sensory experience.
